Hi ladies,

I wanted to share my story with you since I was stalking this site the entire time I was TTC - all 13 months of it. In December 2012, I had a pre-conception meeting with my ob/gyn - and even though I was 37 at the time she said to give it a full year of TTC before I freaked out and came back. (I have mild endometriosis, but no other significant health issues.)

For the first few months, the DH and I tried to let nature take its course...and nothing. At about month four, we started using Pre-Seed. Nothing. At month six, I started using OPKs. Nothing. At month nine, I started acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Nothing.

After my full year, in December 2013 I went back to the ob/gyn and told her we had no luck. She jumped into action (her exact words were: "OK, woman, let's get you pregnant") and I had the full blood panel - everything was normal to good, my FSH was 4.6! - and an HSG, which showed no abnormalities. She said that my inability to conceive so far may just be "bad luck" - but she put me on 50 mg Clomid CD 3-7 to get things going.

That cycle started January 16, and this is where I went nuts. I wasn't sure how the Clomid was going to effect my cycle, so I used two old Clearblue Advanced Digital OPKS - TWO of those expensive bastards! - starting on Day 8. I got a false positive on Day 8 thanks to the Clomid, which locked the OPK for two days. On Day 9 I used the other one, got another false positive, and locked the other one for two days. But by Day 10, the first OPK was unlocked, and I used it to POAS until Day 15, when I got the honest-to-God solid smiley face which locked it. I then switched back to the other OPK, and I got the high estrogen blinky smiley until Day 27, when that one also went to solid smiley.

What the hell, solid smiley on Day 27?! I did a bit of Googling and realized that it may mean I was pregnant. I ran home after work and took a FRER and got a strong second line. It was 12 days DPO.

As for TWW symptoms, the most noticeable - besides that blinky high estrogen smiley that wouldn't go away on the OPK - was incredibly tender nipples and that Olympics figure skating made me cry.

I hope this helps someone out there! I know it sounds a little crazy and obsessive - and expensive, ugh - but it all made me feel like I had a little bit more control over a fundamentally uncontrollable situation. Best wishes and hugs to you all!
